Roberto Casula nasce a Cagliari nel 1962 e consegue la Laurea in Ingegneria Mineraria presso l'Università di Cagliari nell'Aprile del 1988. Superato l'esame di stato per l'abilitazione alla professione di Ingegnere, in quello stesso anno entra a far parte di Agip S.p.A. per la quale lavora come ingegnere di giacimento (reservoir engineer) fino al 1991. Inizialmente coinvolto nelle prove di produzione (production test) e acquisizione dati (well logging) sui pozzi, viene in seguito incaricato di supervisionare la modellizzazione numerica del comportamento dinamico dei giacimenti di idrocarburi (reservoir modelling) spostandosi presso la società specializzata Beicip - Franlab a Sophia Antipolis (Antibes, Francia). All'inizio del 1992 viene assegnato alla consociata Agip Angola Ltd con sede a Luanda: dopo aver svolto gli incarichi di Reservoir engineer e Petroleum Engineer, nel 1994 viene nominato sempre a Luanda Chief Development engineer. Nel 1997 ritorna alla Sede di san Donato Milanese con il ruolo di Development and Production Coordinator per Eni S.p.A, per la quale coordina le attività operative e di business relative ai Paesi dell'africa occidentale e centro-asiatiche. Dopo un intenso coinvolgimento in attività negoziali tecniche ed economiche, nel 2000 viene nominato Responsabile (Department Manager) dei Servizi Tecnici di progetto per le attività in Iran. Nominato Dirigente all'inizio del 2001, nello stesso anno assume l'incarico di Project Director per il progetto giant South Pars Gas fasi 4-5 trasferendosi a Tehran in Iran. Nel 2004 viene nominato Amministratore Delegato (Managing Director) di Eni Mediterranea Idrocarburi S.p.A. con sede a Gela, consociata del gruppo Eni per le attività di esplorazione e produzione sul territorio siciliano. A metà del 2005 assume l'incarico di Managing Director di Eni Nord Africa BV, con sede a Tripoli in Libia guidando le attività eni nel Paese. A fine 2007 rientra in Italia in qualità di Senior Vice President della Regione Sub-Sahariana ruolo che da Giugno 2008 ricopre trasferendosi ad Abuja in Nigeria e diventando Presidente (Chairman) delle tre consociate eni nel Paese (N.A.O.C. Ltd, N.A.E. Ltd., A.E.N.R. Ltd). Nel Dicembre 2011 le sue responsabilità vengono allargate a tutti i paesi dell'Africa e del Medio Oriente con il titolo di Executive Vice President conducendo con successo numerose negoziazioni in Egitto, Libia, Algeria, Angola, Gabon, Congo, Kenia, Sud Africa e Mozambico, interloquendo con le più alte autorità dei Paesi e con tutte le più importanti società americane ed europee del settore. Da Luglio 2014 Roberto Casula rientra in Italia ed è a capo della nuova Direzione Tecnica di eni S.p.A. con la responsabilità di tutte le attività tecnico operative, di progetto e di Ricerca e Sviluppo della Società con il titolo di Chief Development, Operations & Technology Officer a diretto riporto dell'Amministratore Delegato di Eni S.p.A.
Roberto Casula was Born in 1962 in Cagliari, where he graduated in Mining Engineering in 1988. Passed the examination for Engineer, he joined Agip S.p.A (currently known as Eni S.p.a) working as Reservoir Engineer until 1991. Initially, he was in charge of well logging and production testing, while in a following period he got involved in supervising the reservoir modelling process, both at the Headquarter and at a Sophia Antipolis centre, in France. In 1992, he worked as Petroleum Engineer and Resevoir Engineer in the subsidiary Agip Angola Ltd in Luanda and in 1994 he got the title of Chief Development and Production Engineer. He returned to the Headquarter of San Donato in 1997, employed as Development and Production Coordinator of the operating and business activities concerning the Countries of West Africa and Middle Asia. After giving a significant contribution to several initiatives and activities, Roberto Casula became Technical Services Manager in 2000 and the following year he moved to Tehran (Iran) as Project Director on a giant gas production project. In 2004 he became Managing Director of Eni Mediterranea Idrocarburi S.p.A. Located in Gela, it's a subsidiary in charge of all the activities of exploration and production of Sicily. The following year he was appointed Managing Director of Eni Nord Africa BV in Tripoli (Libia) to lead the activities of the Company in the area. At the end of 2007 he went back to Italy as Senior Vice President, responsible for all the operational and business activities for sub Saharan Africa and then he moved to Aubja (Nigeria), becoming Chairman of the three Eni's subsidiaries of the Country. In December 2011, he was appointed Executive Vice President of Eni's Exploration & Production Division and his responsibilities were extended to include the entire African continent and the Middle East region, also closing important deals negotiating with the highest authorities of countries such as Kenia, South Africa, Libya, Congo, and Mozambique. Roberto Casula has been working as Chief Development, Operations & Technology Officer at Eni S.p.A since 2004, responsible for technical-operating, research and development activities of the Company.
